Subject: Re: THE AMERICAN OUTLAW BIBLE OF POETRY

For a very real look at outlaw poetry, get your hands on a good
translation of Francois Villon's *The Testament* or *Legacy*. He was
truly beat, though approx 400 years ahead of his time. Paul Blackburn's
translation of the troubador poets, *Proensa*, also qualifies. (And you
thought all they ever did was run around in tights, strumming lutes!)

You're dreaming of your time warp again, fuckwit: there's no bubble
for you to burst.

If you've been secretly writing like Bukowski all these years, it
explains why you're afraid to post any of the poetry you haven't
burned!

Will, Gamble once kicked his wife out of bed because while she was
talking dirty to him she wasn't putting her subjects and verbs
together properly.

So while she went out to the living room and masturbated to my
photograph, Gamble was in his bed reading the Norton's Anthology of
Poetry.

Let's not forget the unfailing obsession with the Amazing Powers of

Reality can only be expressed by words with four letters.

Good start for a shitpoem.
I'd like to fuckin tell you a beautiful secret--
yes, you--
a secret made real and lent the weight of
Fuckin because stone rejects all hesitation
and me. Bury me with something heavy.
I fuckin love you.
And I fuckin wish you'd get outta the shitter.
Gotta turtle head pokin out.
Beauty. Fart. Shit. Fuck. Die.

I'd like to thank my agent, version 2.0, for allowing me the power to
just pound the keyboard until random letters dreamt of words and
logic. And then woke up.
Hip Hip! (Hooray)
*burp*
J Rinier
Damn, J, that was a "shitty" poem. Allow me to clear the air with some
of the real thing, from Buk himself:

to the whore who took my poems
some say we should keep personal remorse from the
poem,
stay abstract, and there is some reason in this,
but jezus;
twelve poems gone and I don't keep carbons and you have
my
paintings too, my best ones; it's stifling:
are you trying to crush me out like the rest of them?
why didn't you take my money? they usually do
from the sleeping drunken pants sick in the corner.
next time take my left arm or a fifty
but not my poems;
I'm not Shakespeare
but sometime simply
there won't be any more, abstract or otherwise;
there'll always be money and whores and drunkards
down to the last bomb,
but as God said,
crossing his legs,
I see where I have made plenty of poets
but not so very much
poetry.

Or "quintessential", as one critic called him...
